Formalities:
On entering
Tanga Bay contact Tanga Signal on channel VHF 12 or16
Arriving
from foreign shores:
first check in with the Custom officials, (by road or
dinghy) then Immigration. You will need Clearance Papers
from your last country of departure and a crew list for Customs. For Immigration you will need a
valid passport. Visas can be obtained from Immigration for a
fee. Fee structure depends on your nationality.
Customs
are
located in the harbor area and are open between 0800 hrs
until1600 hrs, five days a week.
Immigration
is located in the center of Tanga town. Hours are from 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs. Monday through Friday,
closed Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
Transire:
If
you have already checked into Tanzania, a Transire from your
last Tanzanian port is required by Customs. If you have already cleared into
Tanzania, checking in with Immigration is not required.
Tanga
Yacht Club Membership
for Visiting Yachts is only 30,000 TZsh per
week per boat (4 people), or for those who wish to stay or leave their
boat for three months or longer, full membership is a good
option.
Moorings: 2 heavy duty moorings are available for visiting
yachts with an overall length not exceeding 14 meters (46ft). Rates are: US $35,- a week, $125,- for one month,
for three months or longer $100,- per month.
Careening poles
are available, maximum keel limit, 2.20 m. Bookings required, rates apply.
Workshop:
220 VAC single phase and 440 VAC 3 phase are
available
A
laundry room is waiting for those who want to do
their own, for those who do not , the kitchen girls will
take in washing.
Drinking water:
TYC recommends that you boil all tap water
before drinking or purchase bottled water.
Banks: The
Barclay's, NBC and CRDB Banks all have ATM machines, they
will take one or more of the major credit/debit cards: Visa,
Mastercard, Maestro etc The Tanga Yacht Club
